Over a week and still going strong on the challenge! Go Mika. Today, I had to work with a couple kids who are very spirited and sometimes very hard to handle. Plus, I had to clean my entire house today. I wore wedges for the extra stability, capris cause it was way hot, and a stretchy v neck for flexibility! Usually I would have ended up wearing a brown stretchy v but I went with a pinky purple color today to give my outfit a little something. I am NOT a colorful person. Half of my wardrobe is black. Bonus points: My toe nails match my shirt and it was unintentional!
I really should have taken a pic of my hair and makeup because they were pretty awesome today. I had winged dark brown shadow with a sparkly taupe highlight and lashes that cooperated! :) My hair was a pompadour pony tail thing with lots of volume. It worked excellent because I had dirty three day old hair with lots of old hair spray.
I will try to get my makeup looks from now on too. I don't think I will do a full face shot until all my teeth are nice and permanent though. Thanks for reading! :)
Love, Mika.
Perfect doesn't exist. Fatally flawed, tragically twisted, beautifully bent, wildly wounded, inspirationally imperfect, These are the things that make life interesting. Forget perfect, be REAL! I'm Mika and this is what I do. I love fashion and I'm weird.

Day 8 and 9.
I have a thing for skirts lately. I'm not sure if I just love them or if when I think of the word 'creative,' skirts come to mind. Like jeans aren't creative.
Day 8
Day 8 was a sad day for me. Any one who knows me or of me knows that I have a great love for shoes. Especially ones that are sparkly or zebra print. And this day was the last day that I will ever wear my silver, sparkly, zebra print heels. I love those shoes. But I am like a half a size too small for me and I can hardly get my feet inside them. I am selling them now. I feel like I am selling off my own children! But back to my outfit. Skirt, half cardi, tank and heels. Yay. I really love this skirt for the detail. It just has an awesome texture to the ruffle at the bottom. Plus, the bow on the side is really adorable. I love the half cardi because of the awesome color and the comfort factor. I did not take temperature into consideration while choosing this outfit though. The cardigan was waaay too hot for the warm summer weather that is now upon us. So that thing was off before we even drove out of the parking lot of church. Teal and silver look so good together! And they are my high school colors so I am a tiny bit bias on loving it but it really is a great combo. Ah and note my necklace. My parents gave me this necklace when I got married. I hardly ever accessorize. If I do, it is one necklace that gets taken off three hours into my day.
Day 9
Another skirt! I made this skirt look like a dress though today. Why? Because I have a shirt that is the same exact shade of purple that is in the skirt. And because I can. Necklace curtsey of my Grandma. She always gets me necklaces and I get complimented on them every time I wear them. I got asked twice today where I got my necklace. (Good job Grandma!) This skirt was originally a tube top dress. I cut off the top and made it a skirt because I am way too tall to wear most dresses and especially too busty to wear tube tops. These girls need support and adult supervision at all times. Notice that I wore flats today too! I don't have many pairs so you will see a lot of these babies this summer. People always ask me, "Why do you wear heels every day??" I reply with, "Because each shoe is like a baby to me and I must love them all equally." Quite frankly, I get a TON of comments when I don't wear shoes. I get everything like, "....... Why are you not as tall today?" to "I didn't even recognize you without your shoes," and "Are you sick?!" People really do notice/are super disappointed every time I don't wear heels.
-In the summer I wear flats a lot more often just my hem lines rise. My rule is, the shorter the skirt, the shorter the heel. Don't wear sky high heels and mini skirts unless you are at a bachelorette party in Vegas or a high fashion magazine.(P.S. this skirt is shorter on me. The angle of this pic makes it look knee length but it is mid thigh for me.)
This outfit is great because it can work on every body type out there! Short? The skirt is shorter and makes your legs look longer. Bigger on top? Balances out the girls with the poofy skirt. Heavier on bottom? Same poofy skirt hides any insecurities but highlighting them! (Crazy, I know, but it works.) Boy/apple shaped? It is cinched at the waist therefore creating an hourglass figure. Hourglass shaped? WORK IT. This is just the thing to make your curves amazing!
A big thanks to Kyle who takes a majority of my pictures for me. :)
Love, Mika.
BTW: I am so tired so if you find any grammar or spelling errors, please let me know so I can fix them. :) Thanks guys! You are wonderful.

Day 5 and 6 and 7.
Thank you Morgan for reminding me of my blogging duty. I have my outfits from the past three
days below! :)
days below! :)
Day 5 as shown by my cute assistant Guster.
Statement top and killer heels with a pair of awesome skinnies. Can't go wrong with blue suede shoes (thank you Elvis!) I didn't take a picture with the pants because it looked weird. But I did wear it with black skinny jeans. Oh and just a BTW, if you are going to wear skinny jeans, wear the appropriate underwear! No one likes a VLP. Any how, I got this tank top at Rue 21 and the shoes at Forever 21.
Day 6(ish)
I did not have to work this particular day so I decided to wear this shorter gray dress. I love the bead work on the top and the fun sleeves. It is made out of thicker material so it smooths everything out quite nicely. I wore a black pair of gladiator sandals with it. Remember: The higher the hem, the shorter the heel. This dress was quite short so no heels today for Mika. :(
Day 7
I worked the afternoon shift today so I wore something cool because when it is the summer, we spend a great deal of time outside at my job. So stretchy maroon t shirt and flowy skirt it is! With my favorite pair of gladiator sandals. I love them because they are easy to get on and remind me of Princess Leia (when she is being held captive by Jabba the Hut.) Bonus points: I made my skirt from an old skirt that I got for free. The entire look cost me $15. And just on a side note, make sure to wear Spandex under your flowy skirts especially when you are handling children or it is windy. I've learned that one the hard way... a few times.
I did not post my outfit today for a few reasons. First off, it was super boring. Secondly, I woke up like 3 hours than I normally do. Everyone was lucky that I even had my teeth brushed. I had a grey tank, skinny jeans, black wedges and a black cover up thingy with a belt. You will be seeing the outfit later but it will be more put together and less emo.
Love, Mika.

Day 4.
Excuse my massive cold sore. It is healing. Anyone know of any remedies?? I noticed I am drawn to skirts lately. This outfit is a usual for me. But I just love it so darn much! I paired this blue pencil skirt with a stretchy green v-neck. It gives a very excellent hour glass hours. Invest in a form fitting pencil skirt with lots of stretch.
Shoes. Inspired by Slytherin House.
Love, Mika.
Day 3.
Ignore the awesome facial expression. Kyle was having issues with the camera and lighting wasn't cooperating! This is what I ended up throwing on. Nothing too fancy! Basic outfit.
-black tank
-printed maxi
-red wedges
-red blazer
I love black skirts with a brown print. P.S.- whoever said brown and black could not coexist in an outfit is a moron. If you wear a black and brown print, you can wear anything with it. Seriously. So great. Below are the shoes I wore.
Love, Mika.

Day 2.
Day 2 look consists of:
-a bright maroon/pink ish top (stretchy and v-neck of course)
-a leopard blazer
-a cream lace/tulle overlay skirt
-nude 6" slingback pumps
Today is Sunday so this was my church outfit. I love this one because it is super comfy, which is very important when its three hours of church, but looks put together. And my favorite part is the cost of the whole thing. Shirt = free. Skirt = free. Jacket = $15 (ish.) Shoes = $30. Shoes were a little more expensive and normally, I would not have gotten them but they are a great staple piece and mandatory for a working girls wardrobe! And who knows, I might be rich and famous one day and then I will need them for going out because that is just what celebrities wear. And who am I to disappoint fans?? Rude.
Anyhow, so far I am really pleased that I have this challenge because if I hadn't, I would have worn a brown stretchy v-neck and the skirt with the shoes. Lame. I'm not saying basic isn't awesome though. Cause it rocks! I just want to expand my horizons. Aaaaaaand I guarantee that some days, my outfits will be super basic. Actually, they are all pretty basic... But this challenge is about switching up my life and clothes.
Thoughts about this look? And thanks again for reading! :)
Challenge. Day 1.
I was doing laundry today and noticed I have so many clothes and yet I wear the same five shirts every week. The. Same. Five. I also realized that half of my closet is filled with stretchy, black V-Neck shirts and the other half is just stretchy, short sleeved teal shirts. Oy. Each time I go shopping, I have to actively stop myself from buying more teal or black shirts! Way to be diverse in your wardrobe Mika.
So while I was folding the same five shirts, I thought to myself, "Hmm. I really need to mix it up. Why do you keep buying clothes if you don't wear them?" After I congratulated myself for having a successful reality check, I decided to challenge myself. And the challenge is: Wear a different outfit using different pieces in my closet until I run out of clothing. (Does this mean I don't have to do laundry for like two months?? Because that would definitely be a plus!)
For today's outfit, I forgot to photograph it on so I just laid it out and took a pic to show you all the pieces. Please ignore the dirty carpet and awful lighting.
The components of my outfit are:
-a black blazer
-a leopard print tank
-grey skinnies
-black/pink/blue 6" booties
This certain look is a basic outfit. You can use the same concept and have multiple looks by changing the pieces you use. And this number can be dressy or casual depending on what shirts and shoes you use.
-For dressier occasions, use a statement shirt like a sequined tank under a blazer with strappy heels or pair a plain top with bold jewelry, dress pants and kick A heels in a bright color.
-For casual days, a simple bright shirt or a band tee (again under the blazer) paired with toned down heels/flashy flats/canvas shoes and a sweet bag.
Let's see how this challenge goes. :/
Love, Mika.

Don't Roll Joints, Roll Velcro.
It's me! No makeup and rollers everywhere.
Hi :) So today I bought velcro rollers because I love my hair and want it to look nice BUT I don't want to fry it. Such a dilemma. I can't keep straightening/curling my hair every day! Not to mention blow drying it every other day. And let's be reasonable, I am not going to leave my hair natural because its like freaking ski jumps all over my head. And pony tails are not happening every day! So I talked to my incredible hair dresser (who is my sister-in-law) Megan and she said they were pretty good for your hair. And I figured, "I already blow dry it! Why not curl it at the same time??"
So I bought some. The ones I got are Conair Self Grip Rollers for Volume and Lift. (Its in a clear package and the label is white and purple.) The package had 31 curlers in it. Keep in mind, I had no idea what I was doing. I had seen like two pics in my life with girls in curlers and once in a while saw my mom put hot rollers in her hair. And when I Googled AND Pinterested and nothing came up! Here are the steps I took to try this:
1. I took a shower and dried my hair. Your hair has to be pretty dry otherwise the curlers get tangled don't come out so I was very careful to dry it but I did spray it with some leave in conditioner and heat protectant.
2. I then BS'ed my way through rolling my hair. I put the biggest ones on the bottom and then used the medium ones throughout the rest of my hair. I put them all horizontal and my hair was wrapped over the curler.
3. I put my blow dryer on heat setting "Hot" and "Low" airflow. I then heated my hair up.
4. Spritz with hair spray lightly.
5. Leave in for 15-30 minutes. The longer it stays in, the longer your hair will last.
I must say, it didn't turn out too bad. I'm glad I didn't do it in the morning because its a little poofy for my taste. My hair did calm down a touch after I slept on it but I just ended up throwing it up in a pony. Here is what it looked like after I took out the rollers and finger combed it.
I bought some more a few weeks after the above pic and rolled my hair in all of the small curlers and this is how it turned out!
It didn't turn out as curly as I wanted but I like the results! I think this would look awesome on longer hair too.
I reversed the sizes so that the biggest were on the top and the medium ones were on the bottom. it was a sleeker look with lots of volume. I loved it. This is great for second (or third) day hair that is flat and lifeless. Just throw them in, heat them up, put on makeup, take them out and done! I am a big fan of these. They are great for pony tails too because they add volume and help keep the hair all in one direction.
